Our Sweet Spot
In order to put great opportunities in front of our investors and build highly scalable, highly profitable companies, all of the companies in The Foundry follow this same formula:
We're only interested in software companies that license their product on a recurring, subscription basis—no free apps, no $0.99 apps, no advertising-driven apps, no eCommerce apps.
Business to Business
We're only interested in building companies that will sell their product to business customers. We're not interested building companies that will go after a consumer market.
Software as a Service
We're only interested in SaaS apps that provide some kind of ongoing, licensable service and that live in the cloud.
We're only interested in "painkillers"—not "vitamins." In other words, we're only interested in building software for distinguished cost-cutting or problem-solving opportunities.
We're only interested in building companies whose price per user/license is at least $500/user/year.
If that seems like a lot, it is. But it's a winning strategy
An example of a company that follows this formula is our first client company, MyPostOpCare. MyPostOpCare:
- Produces a B2B medical app that is sold for $X,XXX/user/license to surgery practices around the country
- The app lives in the cloud
- The product offers substantial cost-savings for a pre-existing administrative problem
- The app is paid for on an annual, recurring basis.
